What Can Be Done About Stress?

When you are stressed, it puts your body into a ‘catabolic’ state. This means that your body doesn’t repair as quickly. Have you ever noticed that when someone you know has gone through a major stress in their life, that they look 10 years older?

  • Do you feel like you never have enough time to do everything you need to do in your day?
  • Do you use caffeine to give yourself a boost in energy or to give yourself the kick-start that you need in the morning?
  • Do you get stressed when you are stuck in traffic?

If you have answered ‘Yes’ to one or more of these questions, then your body may be in a catabolic state.

Here are 3 pointers to help get you back on track.

1)      Eat lots of fresh vegetables. Aim for 5 different coloured vegetables at lunch and dinner. Vegies have anti-oxidants, which help to reduce the stress on your body.

2)      Eat regular meals. If your blood sugar levels are out of balance, this will put a stress on your body. Eat 3 main meals and 2 snacks per day.

3)      Reduce or cut out the coffee. This can be a very difficult thing to do. Sometimes cutting it down slowly is easier.

These 3 tips will help to get you started, but if you answered  ‘YES’ to any of  the above questions, then your stress may need a bit more expert advice.
