How do we get rid of Acne?
Here are 5 steps to help say good-bye to acne, once & for all
1) See your naturopath.
Your naturopath can guide you to the best process to take for your skin. Blood cleansing herbs, cleansing the liver, supporting you while you change your diet & rebalancing your hormones if needed, all help to get rid of blemished skin.
2) If you’re a “picker” use a tissue.
For some of us, it’s human nature to pick pimples. If you can avoid doing it, it’s always best for your skin, but if there’s a pimple you just have to squeeze, there’s a few things that you can do to help stop the acne from spreading. Firstly wash your hands thoroughly. Even with clean hands we have a lot of bacteria on our hands. When we pick a pimple, the bacteria from our hands can go into the open wound & cause more infection & more acne. Secondly, to cut down the bacteria even further, use a tissue when squeezing. Again, this helps to cut down “secondary” acne & get’s rid of extra pimples. And thirdly, do it after a shower when your skin is softer & less likely to scar or bruise.
3) Use skincare that is a balanced pH for your skin, but doesn’t strip it.
When you use a skincare cleanser that strips the oil from the skin, it tricks the body into thinking that you need to produce even more oil, so your skin becomes oilier & oilier. Using a pH balanced skincare means that the cleanser get’s rid of excessive oil, but not all the oil on your skin. Having a moisturizer that is right for your skin is also important as you want to moisten the skin, without making it oily. If you’re not sure what the best skincare is for you, ask us & we are happy to help.
4) Eat more fruit & vegetables
The more vegetables you eat, the healthier your body & the healthier your skin. Aim for 5 different colored vegetables at lunch & dinner & 2 pieces of fruit a day. Vegetables that are particularly beneficial for your skin include XXXXXXX
5) Let’s talk about the loo
You wouldn’t think that going to the loo, could be a reflection of your skin. Here’s how. You need to be drinking about 2 litres of water a day, which equates to about urinating about 8 times a day. This is going to help flush toxins from your system. You also need to be having at least one bowel movement a day. Again this helps to get rid of toxins, so that they don’t have to come out of your skin instead. If you’re having difficulty with your bowel movments, make sure you’re eating lots of vegetables and 2 pieces of fruit a day. If that’s still not “moving everything along”, make sure you see your naturopath.
